Window View of Italian Countryside

A landscape that I've been working on.  The photo reference for this was from a friend who lived in Italy for a year or so.  This was the view from her apt. window in Aviano, Italy.  I would love to go to Italy in the near future to see all the beautiful scenery.

Vermont Countryside

This is a covered bridge in Vermont that a friend commissioned me to paint.  I've never been to Vermont but it is definitely on my bucket list of places to visit.

I am making myself paint landscapes because I need lots of work on them however the only way I will attempt is if I paint on top of older paintings that I consider inferior!  That is why I am calling this painting Cover-up!  Maybe I will start numbering them....cover-up 1, cover-up 2, etc......

Reincarnation

This was previously roses that is why I am calling it reincarnation.  I never did like the roses so I decided to make a landscape out of them.  I have quite a few old paintings that I plan to paint over.  I enjoy doing it because they have such a good build-up of paint on them already and the new paint just glides on easily. 

Mobile Bay

We love to go down to Fairhope, Alabama and usually go every 2 or 3 months.  The town is quaint with many cute shops and it's fun to just stroll through downtown.  The beach road (old Hwy. 98 is beautiful too and we like to get out and walk the beaches - this painting is from one of those beach walks.

Late Afternoon on the Rez

Another painting of the scene I see everyday by my home.  I love to see it,  especially in the late afternoon, with all the colors of the setting sun glowing through the trees and on the water!

Charleston side street

New one I painted today - it's been a long time since I even picked up a brush.  I don't think I have painted for the last 3 or 4 weeks.  The reference was taken for this when we visited Charleston for a wedding in the Fall of 2013.  I had never been before and what a treat for the eyes the town was--so picturesque!

Delta Snow

Mississippi doesn't see a lot of snow but in early fall it looks like snow in the fields with all the cotton!  I grew up in the Delta where you see row after row of the white fluffy stuff every year--miss that scenery.

Thought I would try this for today.....tried painting in the rails but ended up looking like individually painted teeth on a portrait and painted them out with just a suggestion instead.

Painting On The Rocks

This one needs some more fine tuning but I'm stopping for now.  I need a lesson on rocks!  I just painted on a piece of loose canvas which has a big fold in bottom left corner but hopefully it will straighten out when I mount it on board.

Buckhead Creek

This is a view of the creek at the park where our grandchildren like to play.  It's a neat park with lots of equipment for them to play on and even has stepping stones across the creek - beautiful setting.  Note:  I re-did this and removed some trees.  After posting yesterday, I saw too many verticals so I removed some trees.  This photo isn't as clear as yesterday's--it has some morning glare on the left--but I like it better without all the trees and reflections.

Georgia Countryside

This photo was taken somewhere along a back road in Georgia.  I think I was attracted to the shadows of the trees and the light at that particular time of day.  I am trying to do more landscapes to "stretch" a little.  I have just figured out that when you blow up these little 6 x 6 canvasses, they end up being larger than I painted.  Maybe that is why I start seeing so many "flaws" when I blow them up--akin to looking at something under a microscope I suppose!! :(

Sunset at Fairhope

We were in Fairhope, AL last weekend and the sky was beautiful at sunset.  This is my attempt at recreating God's beautiful handiwork.   The colors were spectacular as the sun set over the Mobile Bay!

Don't Know Where

The title says it all!  I have no idea where this is...I can't even find my reference photo from when I began it (and it was just last week).  I just made it up as I went along.

Lawn to Pasture Complete

I suppose this is complete.  I'm through with it whether it is or not for now.  Have I mentioned before how much I do NOT like painting grass and trees?  People, birds, animals are fun but all that green overwhelms me!  This would have been complete yesterday had I been able to easily paint that part.  I'm satisfied for now though.

Lawn to Pasture

This is after my first session on these horses that I painted on top of "On The Lawn Of The Louvre".  I never liked that painting - she looked like a female Paul Bunyan to me so I set out to eliminate her.  There are still a few traces of her in the background but I think after another session she will be completely gone.  I really enjoy painting animals and the light was hitting them just right.
