Lawn to Pasture Complete

I suppose this is complete.  I'm through with it whether it is or not for now.  Have I mentioned before how much I do NOT like painting grass and trees?  People, birds, animals are fun but all that green overwhelms me!  This would have been complete yesterday had I been able to easily paint that part.  I'm satisfied for now though.

Something to Crow About

I suppose he is crowing about his recent weight loss.  This rooster is rather skinny by rooster standards, to me.   I found him in a magazine and thought the photo would adapt well to this vertical piece of linen that I had.   Funny how you can really see your errors once you post your paintings - they just jump out at you!  I might have to fine tune him a bit.

Through the Kitchen Window

It sure felt good to get back to painting again today.  This is the first time I have painted in two weeks and I have really missed being at the easel.   Thought I would start back with a cheerful bird!   I love painting birds - there are so many varieties with such beautiful coloring.

Just Grazing

We spotted this horse in the field one day while taking a back route over to the Interstate.  I attempted to paint him in a looser fashion.   This has been a good day to stay inside and paint because it has been raining all day.

The Chatham Art Show went very well this past weekend and I was able to sell quite a few paintings.  I really enjoyed visiting with everyone who came by and it was a fun event.   They had a 3 person combo who played Friday night featuring a fiddler - they were all wonderful!  It really set the tone for the evening!  I decided to post this cardinal I worked on last week.  It wasn't dry enough to take to the show and I wasn't totally finished with it but decided I needed to quit fiddling with it and just leave as is.  He is sort of evil looking, I fear! 

I know I don't have many "followers" on my blog but I do have quite a few viewers.  This is what keeps me painting, knowing that someone is interested in looking at what I paint.   That being said....I have a lot of viewers out there from Russia, Germany and other countries - but mostly Russia - and if I knew Russian, German, etc., I would say thank you in your language but unfortunately I don't.  If you know English, I would like to say (in Mississippi style) thank yall!

Horse Head

I couldn't think of a clever title for this one as you can tell.  The dots in the corners are white thumb tacks I used to hold the linen in place while I painted; after it dries, I'll remove and figure out what to do at that point.  This was a scrap of linen that already had many good layers of paint on it from my Mayflower sign that I cropped off in a previous post.  I like to re-use canvasses (sp?) because of the paint build-up, it makes the new paint flow so easily plus I LOVE linen!  This was my contribution to the Daily Paintworks Challenge for the week.

Three Chicks

This is a painting for a local children's shop where I have some of my paintings.  I thought this would be cute for a baby's room.  When I photograph my paintings, they don't appear "sharp", and sort of out of focus.  I know my camera isn't the best and I carry it in my purse and probably the lens has gotten lint or dust on it, even though the cover is on.   I would like another camera but am not sure I want to take on learning how to operate another gadget.  I still don't know how to use my IPHONE for anything other than answering the phone and maybe an occasional picture or two but haven't learned how to send the pics by e-mail.  I need to just sit down one day and read the booklet and play with it - all this new technology is challenging my feeble brain!

Hen Party

No time to paint lately.  Our daughter's wedding is 3 weeks away and I have been BUSY with that.  I did make time to go to my painting group on Tuesday and that's when I worked on this one.  Something about chickens, hens and roosters appeal to me.  I love all their color!   After the holidays I will be able to paint much more, I will probably miss all the hustle and bustle that I'm complaining about now.   We are having a great time though and looking forward to December 3rd!
