On Stage

I love when the values paint the picture for you.  This was a fun project that I painted over some old ships from a few years ago.   Painting over old paintings really makes me more aware of shapes and values and I love the build up of paint on the canvas.

    I agree with you on painting over old paintings, pure pleasure and it gives a special texture to the new painting. This is wonderful , the kind of subject I really like.

    Great figure-the strong back lighting is very dramatic. I find myself painting over all my old paintings. I enjoy the undercolor and because they don't seem as "precious" as a new canvas I think I stay looser.
