I am fresh out of names for these paintings; not feeling very creative in my painting names lately.  Mr. Rooster caught my attention with his proud stance and beautiful coloring.  He was standing in a yard full of dead leaves so I added more color to complement his coloring.

Trace Trees

This is a painting I started last year, hated and recently re-worked.  I have never been confident with trees and landscapes so I have been working on those lately.  Hopefully, I will get the "hang of it" soon. There are several very good artists whose work I review in my attempt to improve.  This was a photo I took on the Natchez Trace last winter.  The snarled looking branches are what attracted me to them.

Revised What's Up

This is a rework on a previous post.  After viewing it across a large room, I decided it didn't have enough contrast in it so I reworked pretty much over the entire painting. It looks much brighter now than it did. I tend to paint literally and many times reference photos need some extra help with color.

Two Labs

This is a recent commission I did of a friend's "granddogs".  They were fun to paint and I always enjoy painting something that is "special" to the recipient; of course it is usually accompanied by anxiety - hoping they will like it as much as I do.  One is a blockhead lab and the other a field lab.

Wednesday Night Poker

Boy, am I rusty!  I haven't touched a brush in over a month.  My daughter got married on Dec. 3 and I was busy with planning, etc.   The wedding was great and we are happy to have another member in our family.   I painted this today on top of another painting I had done almost 20 years ago.   It's tough getting back into the feel of the paint after such a long absence.   My goal was to loosen up (as always) and I was successful in some areas and not in others.  Hopefully I can get back into painting daily now!

What's Up?

This painting is actually one that I did last fall for a show.  I have been busy and distracted this week with other things and haven't had much time to paint.  I spent one day re-painting "Neely's Shoes".  Someone wanted it and I couldn't bear to part with the first one so I re-painted it.   I do that sometimes when I want to keep one for myself.  I will probably tinker with this one also when we get back from Atlanta -- off to see the grands for Grandparents Day at our granddaughter's school.
