Oriole Repeat

6 x 6 oil on mylar - SOLD

I know this is a repeat of Oriole #1; I used the same reference photo, just changed the background color and made him larger.  I wanted to try something easy for my first experience painting on mylar.  I like the feel of the brush as it pulls over it as I prefer smooth surfaces for painting.  It has a few downsides though and the drying time is much slower.

Oriole #1

 6 x 6 oil on gessobord - SOLD

For my birthday my wonderful husband gave me an IPad.  I have been wanting one to use for painting and this was my first try with it.  I still have a few kinks to work out, especially how to prop it up to view my reference photos as well as just general knowledge of how it works!!!!????  I have an IPhone and have "issues" with it also - just can't teach an old dog too many tricks, so it's a S-L-O-W process.

Fat and Happy II

6 x 6 oil on gessobord - SOLD

This is a "remake" of an earlier painting for a customer's husband.   The earlier one had sold and she wanted hers to look just like the original.  I tried hard but I'm sure there are  differences in the two as no two are ever identical.   I loved painting this bird both times; the colors and contrasts appeal to me.

Fat and Happy

6 x 6 oil on gessobord - SOLD

I saw this Oriole and knew I had to paint him.  He looked so cute perched on the wire with his fat little tummy!   I enjoy painting birds and there are so many beautiful ones out there.
