Canton Tomatoes

These are some tomatoes that my daughter's father-in-law grows and generously shares with our family as well as many others.  He has a large garden at his house and grows squash, tomatoes, okra, cucumbers, eggplant - you name it - and it is all so good.   I painted the sides of this canvas before I photographed it and what a mess I am - covered in blue paint plus I have dropped it several times also.  I won't do that again; I'll photograph it first!

The Final Three

I painted both Monday and Tuesday of this week but haven't finished either one so I decided to post an older painting that I don't think I have posted before.   Actually I painted these three dogs a couple of years ago in a larger painting with more hounds.  It was interesting the way each dog seemed to have his own little personality.   We will be on a road trip the next couple of days so I won't be able to paint.   I hope to get a new camera soon to eliminate the washed out and blurry look of my paintings.....BUT I will have to learn how to operate it! 

Singing Barber

I've been so bummed out about my radish rendition that I haven't been too inspired to paint much this week - well that and some inner ear issues.  This is a guy I photographed outside a barber shop a couple of years back and actually I painted it some time ago.  I guess it was a slow day for him and he was just outside strumming his guitar.  When I asked if I could take his picture, he broke out in song for me. 

After Rehearsals

Today has been a busy one so I'm posting a painting I completed today but started earlier.  Jackson hosts the International Ballet Competition and the last one was last year.  The rehearsals are on the Belhaven College campus and I parked in the parking lot there one afternoon to try to get some candid photos of the dancers.  I feel like a stalker at times with my camera but I really enjoy figurative painting and it's about the only way you can get truly candid shots.    If people see you, they either stop and pose or look disgusted and go the other way.  I would probably do the same thing myself with a stranger trying to take my picture.  If you ask to take the picture, they also pose.  Oh well, so I try to sneak in a few shots here and there.
